It is unusual for someone to be allergic to black tattoo ink, since it's made from carbon. Allergies to colored tattoo ink are quite rare especially with today's modern inks.
|3) Where is the best place to get a tattoo?||back to top|
The best place to get a tattoo is where you want it. Many people have notions that certain spots hurt more than others and because of this notion put their tattoo in an alternate spot only to find out that it wasn't as bad as they thought it would be and then later regret not getting it where they wanted to put it. No matter the pain, applying your tattoo will only take a short while compared to the rest of your life. We urge you to get your tattoo where it will make you happy.

Cost is dependent on the design. Once we see the design in front of us we have a better idea SAE Codes Download of how much it will cost. We do have a shop minimum of $65 so pricing starts there.
|5) Can I make an appointment over the phone?||back to top|
Unfortunately we do not make appointments over the phone. In order to ensure that we provide you with the best tattoo possible we need to see the design we will be working with. With your design in front of us we know what prep work needs to be done for your tattoo, what we need in order to set up for you, how long to book you for and to be able to give you an estimated cost.

Yes. We love drawing custom work for people. We do drawing consultations every day at 12pm and 12:30pm. We CAN schedule drawing consultations over the phone. Drawing consultations are a free service that we provide for clients interested in doing original work.
|7) I live far away and can't come in to book an appointment. What do I do?||back to top|
If you are unable to come into the shop to show us your design we can help you via e-mail or mail. The information we need to help you out via mail or e-mail is as follows:
Once we've received all of your information and have contacted you and have design contacts settled we can find you an appointment time. Please note that appointments made via email or mail are time consuming and do take longer to process than appointments made in the shop. Please allow at least 3 weeks for process time. Please call before mailing us designs so that we know to keep an eye out for them.
- A clear, workable image of the design. Please do not email or mail us thumbnails. we prefer larger, clear designs to work with. If you are emailing us the design wind up toy make sure it's in a .jpg format. Do not email us links to your design.
- Color scheme
- Where it's going
- How large you want the design. Either specify dimensions or include a presized copy of your design in your mailer or in a pinch just draw a circle on the page about the size that you want it.
- Your name
- Your contact information, including a phone number where you can be reached.
- for appointments done by mail we do require a $60 deposit in the form of a money order to hold your spot. Larger more time consuming work may require a larger deposit.

|9) What are your hours?||back to top|
We are open 7 days a week. Monday thru Saturday 12pm-8pm and Sunday 12pm-6pm. We can make special accomodations for early morning appointments Tuesdays through Friday.

We accept cash, visa, mastercard and discover.
|11) Some color fell out of my tattoo. Do you do free touch ups?||back to top|
Yes. Sometimes during the healing process some color may fall out of your tattoo. Often times this is a result of picking at the scab or the tattoo sticking to something during the initial healing process. Other times submerging the tattoo directly after getting it or exposing it to excessive direct sunlight or UV light can damage the quality of your tattoo. We do 1 free touch up within a year of getting your tattoo. Please be aware that every artist has a specific touch up day. Touch ups MUST be booked and we do require a $40 REFUNDABLE deposit for every hours worth of touch up that you book. You get your deposit back when your touch up is complete. We also require that you come in to book the touch up so we can SEE your tattoo, that way we know how long to book you for. We do not do touch ups on Fridays or Saturdays. Please do not wait until the last minute to book your touch up. If you come in 3 days before you're leaving the state forever we may not be able to accomodate your touch up in time.
|12) Can my friend come with me?||back to top|
We always encourage moral support. We allow one person to go back with you. If you bring more than one friend, they'll just have to take turns.
|13) Can I bring my kids?||back to top|
We urge you to leave your kids at home when you come into get a tattoo or piercing. We love children here at Yankee Tattoo but they are not condusive to our enviorment. If you bring your kids with you and there is no one to watch them we will reschedule your appointment for a day when someone can.
|14) How do I make an appointment?||back to top|
Just stop on in! Show us your design, have someone draw it up for you or pick one out from our selection. Once you've settled on a design we can take a look at our schedule and find you an appointment time. Please be aware that sometimes during the busy seasons some of our artists can be booked up to 3 weeks in advance. We take a $40 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit for every hour that we work on you. Your deposit goes toward the total cost of your tattoo.

We're located on 198 Pearl Street in Burlington VT. We're on the corner of Pearl St and North Winooski Avenue. We're just down the street from the Pearl St. Beverage Liquor store and around the corner from the VT Sandwich company. Just look for our red, white and blue awning and the YANKEE TATTOO Neon Sign in our window.
|16) Where do I park?||back to top|
Parking is your typical Burlington parking. There are metered spots on North Winooski around the corner from us and on upper Pearl Street and free on street parking on some of the side streets near the shop. There is also a parking garage on cherry street, just a block away from the shop. Please try to avoid parking in other business parking lots, we've seen more than one person get towed for parking where they shouldn't.
|17) Do you use single use needles?||back to top|
Yes. All of our needles are used once and only once on you and are then disposed of.
|18) Do you have an autoclave?||back to top|
Yes. All of our equipment goes through an extensive sterilization process daily. We have 2 autoclaves which are tested monthly for your safety and ours.
|19) I'm allergic to latex. Is that a problem?||back to top|
Not at all. We have non latex gloves for use on clients with special needs, just be sure to notify our receptionist and/or your artist if you are allergic.
|20) How Old Do I have to be to get a tattoo or piercing?||back to top|
Here at Yankee Tattoo we only work on consenting adults ages 18+. We do not work on minors REGARDLESS of parental consent.
|21) Do you tattoo hands & feet?||back to top|
Yes, at our artists discretion we will tattoo the TOPS of hands and feet (Not the bottoms). However we do not reccomend it as hands Health Care Tips and feet do not lend themselves to getting tattoos as well as other parts of the body. We may do it but we won't guarantee it.

Yes but at our artists discretion and we will not guarantee it.
|23) Do you tattoo inside of the lip?||back to top|
Yes at our artists discretion. Please be aware that lip for the most part are novelty tattoos and do not stand the test of time and we do not do free touch ups on them.

No we do not but we can recommend a reputable artist near the Vermont area.

Yes we do. You can get a gift certificate for any denomination.

The only tattoos we will not do are hate tattoos or gang tattoos. We also will not tattoo the BOTTOMS of hands and feet. Some design concepts or placements may come in conflict with what an artist feels comfortable doing. We may not be supportive of tattooing the never-before-tattooed young person, freshly turned 18 who wants their favorite band logo tattooed on their throat. As always our artists have final say on what they feel comfortable doing for a design.
|28) I have a diabetes (or another medical condition) can I get a tattoo?||back to top|
Yes. We work on many diabetics and clients with other ailments. We do ask that you consult a physician before making the appointment and make sure that your insulin levels are secure.
|29) Why do I have to eat first?||back to top|
We ask all of our clients to have eaten a full meal before services. This ensures secure blood sugar levels. Even the most seasoned tattoo veteran has gotten light headed from not eating before being tattooed.
|30) Can you tattoo over scar tissue?||back to top|
Yes. But it takes time. We can't tattoo over fresh scar tissue. Typically a scar needs to be at least 5 years old before we can touch it. Sometimes even longer for more extensive scars.
|31) Do you do cover-ups?||back to top|
Yes we do. If you're interested in a cover up please call to set up a drawing consultation. Cover ups tend to need a little extra attention during the design process.
|32) Do you do tattoo removal?||back to top|
No we do not.
|33) Can you re-work a tattoo that I got somewhere else?||back to top|
Of course. Stop in and show us what you have already and we can discuss reworking the tattoo or breathing some life back into your design.

|36) Can I have a drink before getting tattooed?||back to top|
We don't have a problem with you having one drink with your meal before getting worked on. We do have a problem with you being drunk. If you are inebriated in any way we will reschedule your appointment for an alternate time.
|37) What do you take for ID?||back to top|
We accept state or federal issued photo identifications. This includes but is not limited to drivers licenses, military ID's and passports. We DO NOT accept non photo ID's or school/work issued ID's.
If you do not present ID at the time of your appointment you will be rescheduled. No exceptions.
